Oakland, California

What was unusual about this bridge was the sheer size of the bent cap and the time in which it was fabricated and erected. A fuel tanker travelling on the I-50 crashed and the ensuing fire reached approximately 2,750 degrees Fahrenheit which caused the bridge to collapse. This key interchange needed repairing swiftly and within 26 days the site had been demolished , cleared , rebuilt and the road was re opened.
